Abstrakt

The presentarticle discusses theresults ofarchaeological investigation conducted on the rear parts of two urban plots located in 13 and 14 Stary Rynek Street in Puck (Figs. 1, 2). The excavated plots became inhabited circa between 1350 and 1375. Initially, their rear parts had lacked any housing, but somewhere in the third quarter of the 14th c. outbuildings and latrines were constructed there. one of them was adjoined by a kiln, preserved in the form of a clay floor (Figs. 3, 4:B), presumably used for malting. In the first half of the 15th c., the buildings were re-developed and two morelatrines were built. Exploration of one of the plots revealed relics of three liming vats filled with slaked lime – their presence indicates that a leather working workshop used to function there. In the second half of the 15th c., the vats were filled with earth and a new timber-frame building waserected. Theremains of modern cultural layers composed of cobblestone and wooden underlay were preserved in a worse condition. Above the wooden underlay, there was a layer of rubble containing Renaissance plate and bowl stove tiles (Fig. 5:7,8). The layers situated above yielded a mixed assemblage of finds dated to the modern period up to the 19th c. The discoveries discussed above reflect multiple alterations of the spatial arrangement of the rear parts of the plots. They also confirm the localisation of the outbuildings, as well as production and sanitary facilities. The most interesting finds included a lead weight, fishing net floats made of tree bark, a wooden shovel, leather shoes, glass vessels, and numerous tiles and potsherds. The works provided extremely valuableinformation regarding therear parts of the investigated plots.
