Czerwony Dwór, stan. XXI, woj. warmińsko-mazurskie. Badania w roku 2015

Abstrakt

The barrow burial ground in Czerwony Dwór belongs to the Gołdap group of the Sudovian Culture and is dated to the younger Roman Influences Period and the Migration Period. Theexcavations in 2015 were performed for three weeks and focused on the northern, i.e. the youngest, part of the necropolis from the Migration Period. In the course of this excavation season, 88 square metres wereexplored, which included the barrow no. 6 and 26 features, inside and outside the barrow. These features comprised 13 cremation burials and, first and foremost, a series of 7 flat pit burials dug into the space between the barrows. Moreover, 7 small pits with shattered pottery were discovered. Their role within the sepulchral complex has not yet been determined. The most interesting structure was the central burial in the barrow 6. It was a 1 m long vast layer of burned bones in which circa a dozen individuals were interred. It may presumably be dated to the end of the early Migration Period.
