Non-destructive surveys in the neighbourhood of the legionary camp and the Late Roman town of Novae were continued in March 2013. 1 Apart from the extramural area in the proximity of the fortress, the surveys were conducted at the site of ostrite Mogili situated ca. 2.5 km to the east of Novae. The fieldwork employed geomagnetic and earth resistance methods, metal detecting and mapping metal 1 The project entitled “Badania struktur osadniczych przy rzymskim obozie legionowym w Novae (Mezja Dolna) przy użyciu niedestrukcyjnych metod prospekcji terenowej” (Research on settlement structures near the Roman legionary fortress at Novae (Lower Moesia) using non-destructive prospection methods) started in March 2012; see A. ToMAS, Non-destructive investigations in the extramural area of Novae (Lower moesia) in 2012, “Światowit” X (LI)/A (2012), 2013, 157–161. 2 A. ToMAS, Non-destructive…, 157, figs. 1, 2. finds using transect method with hand-held GPS devices. A new series of aerial photographs was taken over investigated areas as well. Magnetic prospection was carried out with a Bartington Grad 601-Dual fluxgate magnetometer, and for geoelectrical (resistivity) prospection a Polish Elmes ADA-05 earth resistance meter were used. Geophysical data were put in order and processed using Surfer 10 and Geoplot 3 software. Gathered data were processed by so-called filtration in order to highlight anomalies. visualisation of measurements was prepared in several colour scales of Surfer 10 software. Aerial prospection was carried out using an AeroSurveyor2 drone. This is a self-propelled and radio controlled Delta Wing type aircraft, equipped with stabilising systems and autopilot. An additional element of performed works was a localisation of remains of masonry walls of the so-called eastern annex and to precisely measure their position using GPS devices, in order to possibly correct the plan of this part of Novae.
