Abstrakt

Artykuł ten ma na celu zaprezentowanie grupy amfor zwanych Forlimpopoli1 odnalezionych podczas badań wykopaliskowych prowadzonych na terenie antycznego miasta Tanais (Rosja) (Fig. 1) na tle produkcji i dystrybucji tego typu amfor w okresie od II do III wieku n.e.<br>THE IMPORT OF FORLIMPOPOLI AMPHORA TO TANAIS IN THE SECOND AND THIRD CENTURY A . D . The article discusses the issue of the production and distribution of Forlimpopoli amphora in the second and third centuries A.D.. The name "Forlimpopoli amphora" comes from the northern Italian city of Forlimpopoli (today's Emilia Romagna), where these amphora were produced. They were first identified and classified by Tobia Aldini in 1978. Today we know that these amphora were used to transport wine. The article presents an overview of previously identified and published excavations of this form of amphora at sites situated on the Mediterranean basin and an unpublished group ofthese vessels and their fragments found in the ancient city of Tanais (Russia). There had previously been no indication of the presence of Forlimpopoli amphora on the northern shore of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov from the ceramics excavated within this region. This is also the only sizeable group of amphora of this type to be found as far from their place of origin as the Sea of Azov. The article is a contribution to the discussion of the extent of trading links of northern Italy with the regions of the northern coast of the Black Sea and Sea of Azov. 174
