Dlaczego nie Lesbos? : Obecność Mykeńczyków na wyspach wschodniego Morza Egejskiego

Abstrakt

Mykeńskie źródła pisane, choć ograniczone do archiwów zapisanych pismem linearnym B, znalezionych dotychczas jedynie w kilku ośrodkach pałacowych, zawierają wzmianki na temat ludzi przybyłych z rejonów daleko poza granicami bezpośredniego oddziaływania kultury mykeńskiej. Pośród określeń opisujących Egipcjan,1 mieszkań ców Fenicji,2 Cypru,3 czy wysp jońskich4 najwięcej odniesień znajdujemy w stosunku do przybyszów z rejonów Dodekanezu i zachodnich wybrzeży Azji Mniejszej. Szczególnie wiele z nich dotyczy wybrzeży anatolijskich (Fig. 1): na tabliczkach z Pylos czytamy o kobietach z Miletu (mi-ra-ti-ja),5 Halikarnasu (ze-pu2-ra3),6 Knidos (ki-ni-di-ja),7 mężczyznach z Iasos (i-wa-si-jo-ta)8 oraz ludności obu płci pochodzącej generalnie z terenów Azji/ Lidii (a-*64-ja/a-*64-jo).9 Prócz tego, na tabliczkach z Knossos i Pylos znajdujemy informacje o wyspiarzach z Chios (ki-si-wi-jaj110 i Lemnos (ra-mi-ni-ja)}1 Przybysze - głównie kobiety - zatrudnieni są w pałacu w Pylos przy produkcji wełnianej i lnianej odzieży (CHADWICK 1988: 90). Rola mężczyzn nie jest precyzyjnie określona, ale na tabliczkach PY Cn 328.4 i PY Cn 719.6 ich imiona występują w połączeniu z inwentarzem owiec i kóz, można więc również w tym przypadku zakładać związek z produkcją tkanin (AURA JORRO 1993: 219; cf. także NORDQUIST 1997: 534). Z obecnością obcych na lądzie greckim wiąże się wiele problemów badawczych. Pierwszym, najczęściej dyskutowanym, jest status przybyszów w społeczeństwie mykeńskim. Czy powinniśmy w nich widzieć uchodźców z wysp szukających schronienia w spokojniejszym niż peryferia centrum świata mykeńskiego (TRITSCH 1957; 1958)? Czy są to raczej niewolnicy, wzięci podczas mykeńskich najazdów na wyspy u wybrzeży Azji Mniejszej (VENTRIS, CHADWICK 1973: 155-6; CHADWICK 1988: 90-2)? Czy też, jak chce Uchitel, pełnią rolę robotników „pańszczyźnianych", którzy przywędrowali do królestwa Pylos w pokojowych warunkach (UCHITEL 1984). Kolejne, zadawane często pytania, dotyczą sytuacji politycznej Dodekanezu pod koniec epoki brązu. Czy możemy przypuszczać, że sfera wpływów mykeńskich pałaców sięgała aż Azji Mniejszej? Czy też powstałe na zachodnich wybrzeżach kontynentu ośrodki o egejskich korzeniach, takie jak Milet (cf. NIEMEIER, NIEMEIER 1997; NIEMEIER 1998) prowadziły tam niezależną politykę, utrzymując jednak kontakty z organizmami państwowymi Grecji lądowej? Czy wreszcie rozwinęły się na tych terenach jeszcze inne formy kontaktów z Mykeńczykami? Celem niniejszego artykułu jest analiza dostępnych źródeł archeologicznym pochodzącym z trzech wysp wschodniej części basenu Morza Egejskiego: Chios, Lemnos i Lesbos. Poszukiwać będziemy odpowiedzi na pytanie: dlaczego jedynie dwie pierwsze, nie zaś wszystkie trzy pojawiają się w zapiskach archiwów pałaców w Pylos i Knossos. Staranna analiza materiału archeologicznego, szczególnie importów mykeńskich i ich miejsca w kontekście lokalnej kultury materialnej pozwoli - mamy nadzieję - sprecyzować charakter kontaktów mykeńskich z rejonami wschodniej części basenu Morza Egejskiego.<br>WHY NOT LESBOS? MYCENAEAN PRESENCE ON THE ISLANDS OF THE EASTERN AEGEAN SEA SUMMARY. Refenences to the eastern part of the Aegean Sea appearing in Mycenaean written sources (tables with inscriptions in the Linear B from Knossos and Pylos) provoke many questions about the character of the contacts between peoples from this part of the world and the inhabitants of Greece - the centre of the Mycenaean civilisation. The authors of the article tried to gather and verify the archaeological sources from three islands: Chios, Lemnos and Lesbos in the Late Bronze Age, in order to specify the character of Mycenaean presence along the coast of Anatolia. The leitmotif of the article is the question: "Since the location and natural conditions of all the three islands are similar and all of them should represent the analogous stage of cultural interaction, why only Lemnos and Chios are present in the Mycenaean tables ?"
