Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to systematize various types of fortifications lying along the limes of the Roman province of Upper Moesia, and to discuss some aspects of their topography and form. Thefortificationsare divided into several groups, such as legionary fortressesand cities, auxiliary forts, fortlets, freestanding towers, and others, which do not fall into aforementioned categories. Each group will be discussed separately. The paper also deals with unit types and size of garrisons stationed in particular groups of fortifications.
