Abstract
1 olish archaeologists have been carrying out archaeological excavations at the site of Mele Hairam in the Sarakhs oasis in southern Turkmenistan since 19971 . Their work has resulted in the discovery of an excellently preserved Sassanian temple of fire (Fig. 1).
