Abstract
8 types offish hawe been recognised during the present excavations on the Salęt Lake, dating the Migration Period, on the basis of bones and fishscales. The species were; bream, roach, bleak, rudd, a fish of the family Cyprinidae, perch, pike and weis. On the grunds of a particularly large number of Predacious fish in contemporary fishings (pike, perch, and weis), number of the remaining fish species and a large haul of juvenile fish, it may be stated that the fundamental principles of fishing protection were unfamiliar to the contemporary population, the chances are that so called wasteful fishing exploitation was carried on.
